Not everyone is given an natural skill, but you must have the drive to reach your goal. Check these five things to begin:
TIP #1: Embrace the Pain
As you journey towards your goal, there will be things to overcome that may slow you down. Never give up. You will be a stronger person in the end.
To quote Style, who was quoting Arnold Schwarzenegger, “The last three or four reps is what makes the muscles grow. This area of pain divides a champion from someone who is not a champion. That’s what most people lack, having the guts to go on and just say they’ll go through the pain no matter what happens.”
Make the personal vow to embrace that pain right now and you will be one step closer to superstardom.
TIP #2: Take Off the Lid
The vast majority of limitations are self-imposed. Carefully monitor your own thoughts. As you will see in time, once you stop questioning what you can and cannot achieve, you will frequently find yourself performing feats that you never thought possible.
TIP #3: Understand that Obstacles are Part of the Journey
Randy Pausch, famous for his Last Lecture, stated that walls you encounter in your lifetime are their for a reason.
They are made to keep all of those who don’t want it badly enough OUT. You however are the exception. You will find a way to continue forward and make it past that wall.
TIP #4: Be a Beginner and Be an Expert
The master is always open to learning and reexamining the foundations of a given skill. Don’t shut yourself out if tasks seem too easy and make sure to keep your ears open for the more skilled lessons. Be on alert as these priceless opportunities can arise at any moment.
Tip #5: Dream BIG
Make short span goals that build to your long term goal. You will feel more accomplished which will help you work harder to reach the big one! Refer to earlier tip #2… Reach as high as possible and you will surprise yourself everytime.
Ask right now, “What did i want to be when I became an adult?” Was the answer a pro basketball player or scientist? Bring back the dreamer inside you.
Now ask, what do you dream about now…dreaming is the first step to making them real. You will. And you can!
